Happy New Year!
2011 is a wrap! Happy 2012 to all of our employees, customers and friends! 2011 was an all company record year. We can all be proud of the work that we did to make 2011 a success. Let's keep the positive attitude and ball rolling right through 2012. After all the hours and hard work put into the holiday season, it is important to remember to stay focused and dedicated to customer satisfaction and service. We are hopeful that 2012 will be the best year yet!!

Monday Night Madness Finale
Our Monday Night Football Finale party is Sunday, January 29th, at the Downtown Akron location. We chose to have the party there because it is centrally located and easily accessible from any Brubaker location. The party starts off at 1:00 p.m. From 1:00 to 3:00 all Brubakers' employees in attendance will receive a gift certificate and be able to enjoy free pizza. Giveaways are from 3:00 to 9:00pm. Free hotdogs and sloppy joes are available for our customers from 3:00 to 5:00. Customers who bring their punch card will fill out entry forms based on the number of punches, every punch= 1 entry. Every half hour gift cards and gift certificates will be raffled. The grand prizes, the 42" plasma and the kegerator, will be drawn at different times during the party.

It's Pajama Time, Chapel Hill Style
Join GM Jessica Black and her amazing staff in your favorite pj's, lingerie or nightie on January 28th from 7 pm-close. She will have contests for best outfit, board games, spin the bottle and truth or dare!! Features are $1 Jell-O shots, "Sex at the Sleepover" and "Sex in the Bedroom" shots or pitchers. Stop in for a nightcap; don't let this party happen without you.

Mixin' the Vibes In The Valley
GM Lauren Brannon and her crew are excited to announce they will be adding a DJ spinning top 40 hits on some weekend nights starting January 20th. Come on down and dance the night away and enjoy a concoction or two that Lauren has created with her new Marshmallow or Cake Vodka.

Brubaker's Pubs' Road to Mardi Gras, Fat Tuesday and Beyond!
Only 33 days until Brubaker's Pubs fabulous, fantastic Fat Tuesday Parties. It is a given that Brubakerites live to party. Over the last seventeen years our Fat Tuesday parties have evolved into one of the wildest days of the year, second only to St. Patrick's Day. Mardi Gras and Fat Tuesday are Brubaker traditions. In real New Orleans style, rabble-rousers earn beads by performing tricks, which can be funny, risqué, or silly. As the customers dance, sing or "whatever," the crew will decorate the partiers from head to toe with beads of all colors. Our face painters will be getting a little creative so the rabble rousers are truly in masquerade. Celebrants will be dancing in the aisles and everywhere else they can find a space.

The party goes all day and night. Along with our normal special drink prices, from 5:00-7:00, Happy Hour features complimentary, authentic New Orleans gumbo and huge muffalatta. Now, what, you ask, is a muffaletta? First we hollow out a giant four-foot sub roll. Next we fill it up by layering all of our meats, assorted cheeses, lettuce, onion, tomatoes, hot peppers, mayonnaise, and Italian dressing topping it off with a layer of sliced olives. Come early and enjoy the food. Just as most Brubaker events go, around 9:00 P.M., the parties heat up. Stay late. Use your imagination. Fat Tuesday, muffalettos, gumbo, face paintings but most of all beads for tricks.

Just as Fat Tuesday marks the end of the Mardi Gras celebration, it is the culmination of our Road to Mardi Gras. In an attempt to stretch a two day event into a month long celebration we are going to party Mardi Gras style every Tuesday through Fat Tuesday. Every Tuesday we will be giving away great beads. We will also have a "Traveling Carnival" stopping at two of the locations every Tuesday to play games and pass out prizes. On Fat Tuesday the "Traveling Carinval" will be at all Brubaker's Pubs passing out beads, t-shirts and prizes all night long. Starting Tuesday, January 24th and continuing through February 14th every Tuesday will be Fat Tuesday at Brubaker's Pubs. We will have gumbo, drink and food features, and of course plenty of Mardi Gras flair to get the parties going Tuesday Nights at Brubaker's Pubs. Oh don't forget, "Beads, Beads, and more Beads"!

"Carnival was on their mind…Mardi Gras was in their blood. And every day was Fat Tuesday at Brubaker's Pub." .

Only Seventy-One Days Until Our Fabulous St. Patrick's Day Party

As Fat Tuesday becomes a memory, we turn our focus to St. Patrick's Day, our grandest holiday of the year. Preparations have begun. We are ready to go. We will answer the phone as follows:
"Hello, this is Brubaker's Pub _______ (give location), only ____ (give number) until our famous St. Patrick's Day Party ________. (say your first name) speaking."

We'll have green specialty drinks the month of March. More details to follow in the next PUBlication. If you have any ideas for special St. Patrick's drinks, let either your store manager, Pam Mihalik or Jamie Brown know. We'll be glad to add them to the table tents.

On St. Patrick's Day, Stores #2 Valley, #1 at Chapel Hill and #5 Downtown will open at 5:30 a.m. serving breakfast with our libations. Stores #4 Montrose, #6 Stow, #3 in Hudson and #8 in Green will open at 8:00 a.m. WKDD Keith and Crissy morning show will be Downtown from 5:30am- 8:30 am. The traveling Bagpiper is set to make a stop at all Brubaker's Pubs.

In years past we have rented two or three party limos. From 1:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. our customers rode the Brubaker circuit in style and played at all locations. We are planning to rent the Party-Mobiles again.

Annual Chili Cook-Off!
Along with some help from area supervisor, Jamie Brown, G.M. Jessica Black and her crew are planning the best cook-off yet. The Chili Cook-off 2012 will take place February 26th 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel Hill Brubaker's Pub. Customers and co-workers bring in crocks of chili which are taste tested and judged by the masses. Space is limited so sign up and reserve your chili's spot early. For logistical reasons, we limit the number of contestants to twenty. Contact Jessica Black at 330-630-2237 if you would like to showcase your chili recipe.

Everyone wants to win the Visa gift card prizes-First Place is $100; Second Place is $50; and Third Place is $25-but the most sought after prize is definitely bragging rights which, of course, goes to the first place winne

Bru's News and Views
One Good Turn Deserves Another

he Brubaker entities are composed of seven different corporations. The Brubaker Organization Inc. is a management company that provides services to the other entities. The Organization exists to insure the stores run smoothly. Following are three pet peeves from the office. None are major but it is the little things in life that makes the difference:

• When calling in reports, clearly state the first and last name of yourself and employees. Frequently the person listening to the reports does not know last names.
• When writing checks, fold invoices to correspond with the size of the white check copy. Tear off margins of white check copies and invoices. Every white check copy must have a receipt attached. Code checks to the best of your ability. There are instruction on check writing checks in the Operations Manual or ask your manager.
• Find your own replacement if you can't work your shift. It is your responsibility. Not the office staff or a manager.!

You Would Think It is Obvious
It is obvious that cell phones have become embedded in our society. It has become less obvious however that they are not permitted behind the bar at Brubaker's Pubs. How would you feel if you were at a restaurant and your server stopped to answer a text before taking your order? Absurd. We have heard the excuse "I use it to promote business" which is an excellent idea but you can do that before you walk through the door. Others say, "I need it with me in case of an emergency". That is why we have a house phone, invite family to call the bar number for emergencies, we promise you this method did work in the world before cell phones. The seconds it takes to send or receive a text is crucial time in the service business and after all, you are here for our customers and those seconds should be spent on them.
