Sunday, June 28th-Brubaker’s Pubs 18th Annual Golf Outing
About 90+ golfers teed off for our 2010 Golf Outing on Sunday, June 27th. This year Pam Mihalik, Vice President of Operations, and Jeff Mollica, Area Supervisor, were co-chairmen of this beloved event. Tanja Contini, volunteer extraordinaire, held her station for another year meeting and greeting golfers. Each did their part to insure the success of the event.

Brubaker golf outings are known for fun as opposed to serious competition. All of the golfers and volunteers were winners in the fun department. The team with the lowest score also won Weekly Championship Club Ticket Books to the Bridgestone Invitational in August. Special event winners, Closest to the Pin and Longest Drive, scored Indians tickets. Following are the champs and the raffle winners:

Sunday, July 11th-Fifth Annual Patio Party in Stow
The Patio Party at Stow Brubakers was a huge success once again. It started off early and strong this year as Ari and his friends, all dressed in orange, cheered on the Netherlands in the World Cup final. Although the Spanish came out on top, a good time was had by all! There was lots of game playing and water balloon tossing to go along with the lovely ladies of Stow dressed in jean skirts and bikini tops. Thanks to everyone who helped and participated! Don’t miss the action next year!

Chapel Hill Bru’s Carribean Cocktail party
Written By Jamie Brown

G.M. Jamie Brown and the crew at Chapel Hill Bru’s threw a Sunday Funday Cocktail Party (Caribbean style). On Sunday, July 18th, the West Indies visited Chapel Hill. The crew enhanced the island vibe by serving delicious specialty Island Cocktails and Red Stripe beer by the bucket full. Free Jamaican Jerk Chicken Sandwiches were served as the Reggae music flowed. Customers enjoyed Beer Pong and Cornhole while downing Malibu Jello shots throughout the night. We would like to commend co-workers and customers alike for bringing the Caribbean to the hill….Rastfarite!!!

Brubaker’s Pub Company Picnic
Hot Fun In The Summer Time!

Sunday, August 8th, is the play day we have been looking forward to all summer. The company picnic will be at 6754 Legacy Lane, Wadsworth, Ohio from noon to 5:00 P.M. Stores #1, #2, #3, #5, #6, and #8 will not open until 7:00 P.M. so everyone who wants to play may. Store #4 Montrose is opening at 5:00 for after picnic shenanigans.
This year the picnic is all about business-monkey business. To celebrate the day, company picnic T-shirts will be given to all who attend. Chris Fober and Eric Kerley, the Dynamic Duo, will be dazzling us with their culinary creations. Following is the menu:

Chips and Dips
Appetizers
Frozen Daiquiris and Margarita’s
Hamburgers and Chicken Sandwiches
Dinner Salad
Fruit Salad
Side dishes
Bud & Bud Light and Labatt

Be sure to wear your swim wear. There is a pool complete with diving board and slide.
The Area Supervisor has the honor of coordinating the games for the picnic. Jeff Mollica is The Man with the plan. We usually only play two games-the Lifesaver Pass and the Dreaded Egg Toss. But, as we all know, change is good. Who knows what Jeff might conjure up. Make some new friends by pairing up with co-workers from a different store for the games.

The picnic is free for all employees. The company provides the place and food. You supply the excitement for which our co-workers are famous.

Football Season 2010
August begins pre-season Ohio football. This year we will be bringing back Monday Night Madness for pro football. Monday Night Madness is a season long Monday night promotion featuring $1 drafts, free food and chances to win prizes each week. People who participate in the promotion will be entered into a drawing at the end of the season for thousands of dollars in prizes. Start telling customers that Monday night Madness is coming back!

Saturdays will be college football parties extrordinaire. SJB, an Ohio State Alumni, is pumped for the upcoming Buckeyes season. We will be featuring a special on Budweiser for OSU games. We would love input from our staffs, ideas for making Brubaker’s Pubs the place to watch the top ranked Buckeyes roll over opponents.

Akron University football is going to be a focus for the Downtown area. Year two of the new stadium should make downtown a fun place to party on Saturday afternoons.

As a company we must start now promoting Brubaker’s Pubs as a great place to catch all the football action. It is uo to all of us to invite each and every customer in for games! It starts now!

Bartending Tip
The little things make the difference. Following are some suggestions:
Learn your customers’ first names. Try to learn five new names each night.
Remember what your customers drink.
Talk to all the customers. Not just one. Don’t talk to your co-workers unless important.
Face forward watching the door. It a customer sits down before you have greeted him, you have not done your job.
Stand up straight. Don’t slouch.
Don’t put your hands in your pockets.
Leave your cell phones in your cars. There is no good reason for a server to have his cell phone.
Pay attention to the customer. After all, this is your job.
Say thank you, goodbye and stop back to everyone
Have fun with your job. A little wild and crazy goes a long way.

FYI: Once bottles and/or cans of grapefruit, tomato and pineapple are opened, the juices must be refrigerated. This is stated clearly on the cans/bottles. Pouring the product in a juice container does not prevent spoilage. The containers cannot be stored at room temperature any time. There seems to be some confusion in this area. Proper handling of these three juices is to immediately place it in ice or in a cooler after each use.

Happy Birthday
